What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta-8 is a cannabis compound that has grown in popularity due to its resemblance to THC, the key compound in cannabis that causes euphoria, pleasure, sedation, symptom relief, and other effects. The majority of cannabis strains contain high levels of THC.

Chemical structures and names are the only parallels between the two cannabinoids. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as delta-9 THC or simply delta-9, is the scientific term for THC. Delta-8 stands for delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, which is also known as delta-8 THC. The effects of delta-8 THC are similar to those of normal delta-9 THC, but they are much less potent.

THC comes in two different forms: delta-8 and delta-9. When people speak about THC, they’re usually referring to delta-9 THC. (When we say “THC” without a suffix in this post, we’re talking about delta-9 THC.)

What does Delta 8 THC do?

Delta-8 users experience many of the same effects as THC users, including moderate euphoria, pleasure, uplifting emotions, and relief from certain symptoms like discomfort, despite the fact that the compound is much less active. Insomnia can be alleviated by using Delta-8.

Dry mouth, swollen skin, the munchies, short-term memory, paranoia, and fear are also possible side effects that are close to those of THC. It’s worth noting that delta-8 hasn’t been thoroughly investigated, and further study into its mental and physical effects is needed.

Where to Buy Delta 8 THC?

You can order delta 8 THC products online and have them arrive within 2-3 days. The most popular products include delta 8 gummies, delta 8 tinctures, delta 8 distillate and delta 8 nano solution (Fresh Nano).

The legality of delta-8 is currently unclear. Hemp or cannabis can also be used to make it. Hemp can now be grown and extracted legally throughout the United States, thanks to the 2018 farm bill, rendering delta-8 legal in states where delta-9 THC is illegal—in certain cases.

Delta 8 is now illegal in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Utah. In all other states, it is legal, but bear in mind that this is subject to change if state legislators determine that it should be classified as a controlled substance. Therefore, before purchasing delta 8, you should always check with state laws, as laws regarding cannabis are prone to sudden change.

Can Delta 8 THC Get You High?

One of the difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9 is the “high” that they both give. Users describe the Delta 8 high as more mild and less aggressive than the delta 9 high. If you’re going for purely a high experience, then delta 8 is still an alternative for people who live in states where Cannabis is illegal. However, always check your local state laws before purchasing delta 8 products.

Many people still prefer the mild high that Delta 8 offers over delta 9 because there is less cognitive and motor impairment involved.  In fact, high performance individuals such as athletes, entrepreneurs, and creatives prefer delta 8 as it they claim it increases their productivity and ability to get in the zone.

Delta 8 vs Delta 9

There are three distinct variations: differences on a molecular level, differences in availability, and differences in how the highs are experienced.

  • Molecular: On a molecular level Delta 9 THC has a double bond on the 9th carbon chain whereas Delta 8 THC has a double bond on the 8th carbon chain. Despite this being a seemingly small difference, it yields big results.
  • Availability: Delta 8 THC is less abundant than Delta 9 THC in the marijuana / cannabis plant – only with recent technological advances have we been able to isolate Delta 8 THC for it to be publicly available.
  • Experience: Delta 8 THC has been shown to give a similar “high” to Delta 9 THC but with less severe side-effects. The high produced by Delta 8 THC (in comparison to Delta 9 THC – which is the most common THC) is described as “less intense, gentle, enjoyable and manageable”.  On a more practical level, the highs from Delta 8 THC are found to have less functionality-impairing effects.

Delta 8 vs CBD

Since its inception, the cannabis industry has expanded tremendously, and more people are becoming knowledgeable of THC and CBD. If you’re a regular cannabis user, you’re already familiar with Delta 9 THC, also known as THC. However, have you heard about Delta 8 THC?

Although most people are familiar with the most common varieties of cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD, Delta 8 THC is an emerging compound in cannabis items. It’s a cannabinoid, much like Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), so what are the parallels and differences? Products containing Delta 8 THC can be found here.
